It's a love meme!

Because November is hard for lots of us, and in particular is something I find hard (my not-quite-month of mourning begins tomorrow, officially); because it's spring in the southern hemisphere and the days just keep getting shorter in the northern; because I talked to my counsellor yesterday about all of the shapes and forms that value takes.

This post will close to new nominations at the end of the month (because November), though I'll keep unscreening comments after that point if any new ones do come in.

♥ Nominate yourself or someone else, anonymously or logged-in, by putting your/their username in the subject line of a comment to this entry. If you do not know for certain the person's preferred pronouns and they do not list them on their DW profile, please use gender neutral pronouns as a default. I was saying to kaberett, I'm really pleased that merrythebard is active on DW at the moment, cos their comments on this meme are absolutely inspirational. If that's a bit too meta, I also want to appreciate how they practise self-compassion, and that's by definition not at thing you can be "good at", but I greatly admire their dedication to accepting the person they are and refusing to compare themself against unreasonable external standards.

Oh, the lovely mirabehn is lovely. And kind-hearted. And kind-acting as well, which doesn't always happen together. They are cuddlesome and fun and thoughtful. They give and give and give, and don't even know they are doing it.

I is very lucky to know a mirabehn.

Elly is inspiring in their dedication to kindness, to acting on the world in the best way they can, and to art. I always like seeing posts from them - even when the content is about something sad or angrifying, the fact an Elly exists in the world, being as bright a light for good as they can, is a reminder that the world can and does have good in it. Even apart from all the other reasons to like having Elly as a friend - funny, interesting, thought-provoking - I think that would be enough to make me very glad they are here. :)

I am consistently impressed by your capacity to be kind and compassionate, especially towards people whom many would feel don't deserve it.

I'm really in awe of Elly's commitment to compassion and their hard work in actually following through on that commitment. Their talking about that work is encouraging and inspiring – it doesn't pretend it isn't work but it does show it can be done, and very well.

You too are "I would like to know this person better than I do" :-) I have only positive impressions of you. (The way I work is that for people I don't know particularly well, I over time accumulate an impression rather than specifics; so I have for you the "this person is awesome" flag set, as opposed to e.g. various participants in Racefail '09, for whom I have the "terrible person investigate further as necessary" flag set...)
