Healthwork
Jul. 17th, 2014 04:57 pmSo far today:
- e-mailed sleep log to counsellor
- counselling
- one difficult conversation
- daylight lamp
- eaten two meals
- e-mailed the research group's mailing list asking people to do the thing to my samples I was unable to do today because I'm housebound
- e-mailed my supervisor, see previous
- e-mailed occupational health
- read & responded to (helpful!!!) e-mail that just came in from my union rep, including a reply to her e-mail from yesterday to let her know I've contacted occupational health
- e-mailed counsellor to set up next week's session
- actually taken any of my meds
- tracked down the way to request a slot at the walk-in clinic, tracked down opening times of walk-in slot, stuck reminder to self in diary, for sexual health screening
- read e-mail union rep just sent to the building managers she's being amazing ;__________;
- wrote first draft a letter to the DWP about how my situation's deteriorated since I made my application
- work out how to summarise the impact my health issues have on my life for the GP
Things still on my list are "what a good session feels like [to me]" and "[one method for] setting boundaries with your counsellor". Also, given that I've half-mentioned homework, maybe something about homework.
However! I have spent long enough in counselling that I've slightly lost track of what things aren't general knowledge (whoo autism + specialisation), so if there is Stuff you would like me to write about, please let me know and I'll put it on the list.
All comments to this post are screened & will remain so. <3
(Also, major major thanks to everyone who's finding the post series useful - it means a lot to me that I get to share these experiences in useful ways <3

[meta] to-write
Feb. 24th, 2013 12:01 amSome of these are repeated from the last such list, but this one is a bit more organised/coherent... as ever, holler if there's anything you'd particularly like me to bump to the top of the list. :-)

Why a retrospective? Because at this point, things are beginning to kick into gear for my return: we're beginning to talk about a project; we've already talked about accessibility of accommodation and my department; and the "yep this one's good" letter has been requested from my GP.
So what have I got done?
... and, of course, a large number of other bits and bobs.
Most of these - including getting my meds sorted out - were completely incompatible with getting a degree (or possibly staying alive), but have made a massive improvement to my quality of life and ability to, you know, do well when I return.
I'm finding things a little emotionally wearing at the moment - Facebook is full of status updates along the lines of "degree finished, HERE I COME ABERDEEN PHD" from people I matriculated with, and that's bothering me much more than I expected to - but oh my goodness, taking a year out was the right thing to do, and: I am fundamentally okay.
So what have I got done?
- sorted out my medication: my mental health is now generally well-managed, and my pain is acceptably-managed
- applied for DLA, and appealed the subsequent decision
- accessed NHS funding for a wheelchair, plus applied for a grant for magic wheels
- sent another round of letters in The Saga Of Fiona Fucking Blake
- written fic plus misc crafty endeavours
- started learning Javascript and volunteering with Dreamwidth
- I'm about to be in my first Lashings show, and have booked tickets for the Edinburgh Fringe
- set up an LGBT+ library
... and, of course, a large number of other bits and bobs.

I keep ending up in conversations with people about Things I've Tried For Endometriosis, With Bonus Stuff I've Heard Or Read About. Typing it out over and over again is getting slightly silly. Hence this posting.
