Reading. A little more of Black and British.

Finished The Dark Archive (Genevieve Cogman). Was exactly the trash I was hoping for.

Watching. CXG S04E02. I particularly enjoyed quiet complexity of characterisation in this one -- None Of Your Faves Are Free From SinUnproblematic, and the ways in which that truth is sometimes simultaneously shocking and unsurprising, both because of course that wouldn't ever have come up before, and because it gestures to whole entire communities and community ways-of-thinking that we never get shown on-screen. Also, a child wore a snail costume.

Lots more of the 2022 Migraine World Summit! Which is now over. I... should attempt to actually write any of it up.

Playing. I have continued to watch A play Epistory and I think we are mostly enjoying ourselves a lot! I have particularly enjoyed, this afternoon, the waterfalls and the ways the edges of blocks are sheafs of paper.

Cooking. I experimented with paella! It was good! I will make it again only next time I will make less of it! (Freely adapted from Food52, including addition of fennel and celery and smoked paprika, and substitution of fresh green pepper for jarred roasted red.)

Eating. This week we have mostly been eating SpƤtzle and paella.

Making & mending. Adam was MAGNIFICENT and came and went up a stepladder and had longer arms than me this week. Consequently the greenhouse frame is ACTUALLY SOLIDLY BACK TOGETHER, some more of the glazing has gone in, and I have a short list of parts to order in to the local greenhouse monger. (Two aluminium bars that will be best off replaced, one aluminium gusset that had might as well, a set of wheels for the door I need to measure the diameter of, and also three panes of glass only).

Growing. THE BROAD BEANS ARE HATCHING. I had given up on them but up they all come!!! So I have sown a second batch in the other half of that bed, and also in the process of Sorting Out My Seed Inventory I convinced myself that it's not too late to start tomatoes (and the More Nematodes arrive) so I've sown a tray of them, and we'll see what comes up. (Adam is, again, great: he has offered to water them for me on migraine days, mostly To Make Me Happy, so FUCKIT I am attempting to grow tomatoes this year.)

The blueberry has FLOWERS and so does the creeping rosemary and even the Chaenomeles japonica. The fig is unfurling. It is Definitely Spring.

Observing. BAT. FIRST BAT SIGHTING OF THE YEAR. And even we have seen it every evening since (so far)!

The pair of robins is bustling around importantly. There was, we are pretty certain, a blue tit on the feeder to supplement the steady supply of coal tits.

My cherry tree is not yet doing anything, but I've been greatly enjoying the riot of them elsewhere on the way too and from the allotment, with the camellia and the magnolias too.

Gosh I'm enjoying the weather.

Oh, this part of the year always makes me chuckle with how much further ahead your spring is compared to ours! I sowed toms at the start of the week and was still convinced it was too early. And maybe one day my blueberries will have leaves again??

The Internet tells me magnolia petals are edible. I tried one this afternoon and it tasted surprisingly Chinese.

This term delights me.

and had longer arms than me this week

The implication here also delights me.

Gosh I'm enjoying the weather.

I am glad for you. <333

Adam was MAGNIFICENT and came and went up a stepladder and had longer arms than me this week.

I feel the need to note that arm length is not a competitive sport. No dislocating shoulders in order to compete, that way lies A&E and ouchies!

And that's a remarkably good cumulative effort from the pair of you given the state the greenhouse was in post-Eunice.

My cherry tree is not yet doing anything

I just noticed an hour ago that the leaves have opened on mine. I forget which odd variety it is, but it is definitely odd, so it doesn't quite follow the local sequence from standard variety trees, of which I was quite surprised to see several in full blossom when I was out on Saturday.

So glad to hear the greenhouse repairs worked! My blueberries are looking pretty good too and the cherry blossom looks like it will be out shortly. Plus my apple trees are starting to show hints of green leaves.

Alas seed sowing for me will be much later as I need to get the allotment properly laid out - suspect I'll be buying in quite a few seedlings this year. On the other hand by summer I hsould have the plot fully laid out and the greenhouse built so I'll be all ready for next spring!
