some good things make a post

- The savoury mango salad just being in the fridge and ready to go in bowls at lunchtime. I'm definitely sold on it, I'm extremely pro having gone "it is going to be ludicrously warm so I'm going to make Warm Country Food, and I'm very pleased indeed to have got the chilli level just about perfect for my current purposes.
- It got cool enough outside to open the windows. I am writing this lying in a very pleasant breeze.
- A's horrid cold feet earlier in the day when it was still Much Too Warm. (Raynaud's!)
- Tepid shower, followed by extended evaporative cooling.
- A very kindly chatting to me while I was applying conditioner.
- Some stats on the EHRC consultation, which I found very comforting. (At least in part for having someone recognise the work and tell me I done good.)
- Enough Labour MPs with a functioning sense of ethics to force yet more rowback on the UC/PIP bill. I'd still water the second reasoned amendment had been adopted, but while the changes aren't good enough they are something, and they give us a little bit more time.
- V excited to have been informed via Ann Leckie's newsletter that John Chu has a novel coming out in April 2026, which looks to be an expansion of one of his short stories that gutted me in the best ways, and that I desperately wanted more of.
- Brie & fancy fig + spelt crackers + pear.
- Pedestal fan prices at least at the top end of the Which? list have not gone through the roof, so on Thursday (along with my next round of migraine meds) we'll be getting an "air circulator" delivered, which will hopefully make it much much quicker and easier to cool the flat down in the evenings next time the weather does this.
