today started Early.
Jul. 2nd, 2019 10:10 pmCN: mild gore, everyone's fine (I didn't even have to properly wake up).
I woke up at around 5.30am to a very confused Adam. It gradually dawned on me (helped along by him asking me to fetch a box of tissues, though also by the smear of blood on his chin) that the reason for this was that, unlike me, he's not actually terribly accustomed to waking up in a pool of blood, so it had taken him some time to realise that the Damp Sticky Fluid covering his face was... from a nosebleed.
Having (1) got him the box of tissues, (2) ascertained that he'd not lost enough blood that I actually needed to worry about it at all, and (3) checked that he didn't want me waking all the way up for support, moral or otherwise, I dozed back off, occasionally rousing enough to explain How To Deal With The White Bed Linen Being Covered In Blood, which is in fact something I can mostly do in my sleep. For some reason.
I was a little perplexed by how long it had apparently taken him to register what was going on until I remembered that, in fact, he doesn't (for some reason) have copious personal experience of waking up to mild discomfort and a dawning sense of resigned realisation.
(I subsequently spent the morning mostly asleep, very tentatively did some work, and wrangled the allotment some more. Next year's infrastructure project: very definitely A Fruit Cage.)
