We ran Some Errands this afternoon, which included observing that there were a lot of decidedly cut-price raspberries, so I Persuaded A to get them for me (which, to be fair, didn't take much persuasion), and -- well, they were sufficiently ripe that they'd started disintegrating and therefore leaking.
Ergo into the jug: the juice of two large lemons; all the raspberry drainings plus a few of the berries themselves (yes I know they're not botanically berries); a hefty whack of sugar; some mint leaves; and a full SodaStream bottle of water.
I have always historically been disappointed and a little suspicious about my attempts at lemonade, though I'm not entirely sure what I was doing differently and wrong (probably just too little sugar, if the truth be known), so there you go, there's my achievement of the day.
(It being the UK's One Day Of Summer, we had a late-lunch-or-possibly-early-dinner consisting of burgers and fried onions and very basic salad and slightly ridiculous relishes, with the lemonade to go with, and lo, it was good.)

Date: 2019-07-01 07:28 pm (UTC)...sorry to be this person, but I have to ask as an american(tm) ("midwest", [southern] Ohio-ish), since you mentioned a SodaStream bottle of water, is this lemonade sparkling?
because I think of lemonade as lemon juice+sugar+still water, and regionally it is. (berries and, though I think I've never had it, mint are perfectly acceptable additions, if not what I would think of as the definitive lemonade. And honestly, if it's actually got lemon juice in it, I think I'd accept carbonated lemonade as a marked variation.)
but I'm also more or less aware that in at least parts of Europe it's apparently basically lemon-lime soda (e.g. Sprite)? and then I come across a recipe for e.g. a Radler/shandy and quite honestly I've gotten lost about what lemonade is in that context. So I'm curious about how people in different places think of it.

Date: 2019-07-03 09:47 pm (UTC)In that instance, yes; the current batch I've just made up the lemon-raspberry mix and stuck it in the fridge, and we're topping it up with either still or sparkling as we prefer. :)
