[motion] two and a half months at the gym
Sep. 19th, 2018 10:26 pm... and that's two weeks running I've left on an actually pleasant endorphin high and absolutely no sense that I've done myself any harm whatsoever.
I don't remember this happening in about a decade.
I think what's happened is that my small stabilising muscles have just-about managed to catch up with my large-muscle strength sufficient that the latter are actually working, and also I'm starting to be able to hit cardio that even vaguely engages my cardiovascular system without completely fucking my knee up.
Gosh but it's nice to be getting measurable progress, and to be leaving the gym feeling good, and to have finally had health workers believe me about my body and tell me how to look after it.

Date: 2018-09-19 10:06 pm (UTC)Gym professionals relatively useless, this was all the actual hypermobility specialist physios finally giving me advice after more than five years of trying and failing to get non-specialist physios to tell me how to stop hurting myself!

Date: 2018-09-19 11:48 pm (UTC)I've been slowly building up hand weights. I'm up to three sets of 6 reps x 6 pounds. I'm amazed at how much easier it is to open the jars, and I'm getting two more lengths in my allotted swim time.
SMALL STEPS WORK.
