I mean I am in the kinda unpleasant position of genuinely kind of hoping it's entirely psychosomatic? Because if it is it is TRIVIALLY FIXABLE and I get to have it STOP RESTRICTING MY LIFE SO MUCH buuut (a) that's not actually super-consistent with the available data, and (b) I'm not... actually sure what it would take to convince me that adequate investigation had been made before ascribing it to same, because this is really very not my area? *flail*
Psychosomatic would probably not be helpful for the rest of your diagnoses, in fact it would be a bloody albatross round your neck, so forgive me for not sharing your kind of hope.
But I will hope you get someone with a clue to what's going on.
Ehhh, I have pretty unarguable physiological evidence of the endometriosis; I've not got a genetic profile for the EDS but I unambiguously meet diagnostic criteria, so it probably wouldn't mess me up TOO badly.
BUT I have been referred to the person at UCH who was recommended by the hypermobility clinic so, you know, crossing every available appendage and making my physios cry ;)
I'm a bit confused about wishing it were psychosomatic - would someone telling you that fix it? I have similar problems, they originate from having swine flu (I lived in one of the worse affected states of the US at the time) I was just about to get investigations there when I moved back and now it's far too low on my priority list, getting flu could be a disaster though.
If it's psychosomatic it's trivially treatable with therapy, which I have a LOT of practice at, rather than requiring yet another round of expensive drugs roulette.
Not all contributions are financial or using your mind and/or body for generating cash. We all know this; I think it's important to reiterate. Also, as a disabled person, your contribution does not have to be Noble Suffering (TM); that shit is so last millennium.
