bodies are terrible
May. 29th, 2016 12:46 pmI spent an indeterminate amount of time (I wasn't up to checking; I didn't really have much sense of the passage of it) lying very still on the bathroom floor at around 5am. When I managed to drag myself back out of bed at 11 I discovered I'd pulled my towel down to act as a pillow during the horrible clammy nauseous shivering, which up until that point I'd had no recollection of doing. It was pain levels such that your hearing starts buzzing and your movements are extremely erratic; I was sufficiently out of it that it didn't occur to me that I could take codeine (and probably wouldn't have been able to if it had), and bad enough that I seriously considered calling an ambulance in case it was something worse than Just Period Pain (or at least so they'd fucking give me some morphine I didn't have to swallow); the major argument against so doing was honestly "I don't want them to have to break the front door down but I'm pretty certain I can't get down the stairs safely" (plus, you know, "I'm not convinced I'll actually be able to make sentences at the dispatcher" -- A is away this weekend).
So that was fun.
I am now more awake and therefore actually managing to, yes, take some fucking codeine. You can tell I am doing better because I have managed to type this, but "better" is unfortunately still "seven spiking frequently to nine" and "vocalising pain a lot" and "eyes aren't doing a great job of focussing" and "actually I am pretty erratic and not reliably paying attention from one second to the next", which: ALSO SHIT.
(
shortcipher is on his way to visit -- he was anyway -- and I am preemptively feeling guilty for being TERRIBLE COMPANY.)
oh thank FUCK the codeine just hit yesssss

Date: 2016-05-29 01:20 pm (UTC)So the codeine wasn't cutting it so I called the NHS and they're sending an ambulance, which is ridiculous because I really do just want some IV morphine, it really is not this big a deal, BUT HEY

Date: 2016-05-29 03:41 pm (UTC)So far I have had mysterious IM diclofenac and scared them with my blood pressure (it dropped from 112/85 to something like 95/62 when they finally let me lie down).

Date: 2016-05-29 10:22 pm (UTC)In practice this is low enough that I drop into officially Low if I've been nil-by-mouth/underslept/given sedatives, and in fact I will get kept in for observation if I am, as it happens, underslept and nil-by-mouth and then give more sedative than was a good idea (AS I COULD HAVE TOLD THEM IF THEY'D ASKED) -- but it's not low enough to be in and of itself worrying absent impairing symptoms (I have to be careful about changing position because of postural hypotension and I'm more prone to fainting if I get feverish), and just means I need to Eat More SAlt. In practical terms.

Date: 2016-06-01 04:53 pm (UTC)I've done the bathroom thing (obviously not for endo) and when the pain reaches that level you just aren't capable of rational planning.
If the 'not convinced I'll actually be able to make sentences at the dispatcher' is primarily vocal, might be worth registering with the emergency SMS service http://www.emergencysms.org.uk/ in case of a repeat performance.
