Playing. More Samarost 3, in which I actually understand what was going on enough to solve a puzzle.
Cooking. This week I mostly had a migraine (started on Saturday last, continued until halfway through Thursday) but I also still, very much, had a fridge full of oranges and milk to use up, and also three quarters of a litre of double cream.
Accordingly, I spent Friday evening processing a kilo or so of oranges into proto-marmalade. On Saturday I made a batch of black sesame ice cream (thereby tidying up the last of the black-sesame-and-honey paste I'd had lurking in the fridge), and then I boiled up and jarred the marmalade (and got the set pretty much perfect, which I am delighted with), and turned the leftover egg whites into amaretti (excellent; will make again). Two more blood oranges got turned into citrus yoghurt loaf cake, one with shocking pink icing (as I'd managed to pink one of the redder oranges to juice for the syrup-and-icing stage).
Tonight, inspired by
alexwlchan, I have started some rice pudding, thereby using up more milk and cream and also -- this is a Virtue -- some more Stuff I Have Lying Around The Fridge, namely the dregs of a tin of condensed milk. (I will also get to use up at least some of the loose bits from my roses-for-tisane! more virtue.)
I am, for some reason, quite tired.
Growing. I have not yet started tomatoes or chilli because, honestly, I'm afraid of what will happen to them once I move them to the allotment and then continue having migraines. Probably I want to take a deep breath and trust future-Alex to work it out one way or another.
I also haven't yet started the broad beans, but that's because I've been failing to make it to the allotment (migraine! Storm Eunice!) and it also hasn't exactly been dry recently. BUT the Tramper is fixed -- new batteries & a service on Tuesday -- so I now have multiple viable options for getting to the plot under my own steam again, which is Good, so. Maybe this week.
