kaberett: a watercolour painting of an oak leaf floating on calm water (leaf-on-water)

There are quite a lot of oak trees near us, you see, and 'tis the season for deciduous trees to shed their leaves, and oak leaves are apparently particularly good for leafmould. And so: I spent about 90 minutes this afternoon shuttling back and forth between "the allotment" and "a place where I had, on my earlier perambulations, observed Some helpfully pre-bagged Leaves", and the chickenwire I did have staked around the summer squash and their associated beans is now instead staked around... a pile of leaves.

Having achieved proof of concept, I think I am intending to keep half an eye on that spot to see if more Consolidated Piles Of Oak Leaves show up, and then I get to hurry up and wait and decide whether I want to do this again next year.

I also got 38 garlic cloves into the ground, so that job can now be ticked off my list. I look forward to seeing how much it translates to. Though apparently this year I got 32 bulbs, and we have 12 remaining, so maybe I want to go back and stick some more in the ground...

If only the shipping rates were lower...

We've got 4 oaks on our lot, and MyGuy has created at least 10 piles taller than himself. (Our city happily collects leaves and composts them to prevent eutrophication in our four lakes.)

Congrats on starting to moulder.
