Watching. Volcano (1997), at ilyena_sylph's instigation. I yelled a lot about how much everybody should be dead, and also that that's not what fumaroles look like, nor how subduction zones work. The acronym collisions (both OEM and DWP featured heavily) were somewhat disconcerting. And also, obviously, I Ship It.

Eating. Sweetcorn and Cosse beans and cobnuts, oh my! Also apple and jostaberry pie (somewhat dubious).

Growing. I have brought home the surviving chilli and a squash, which latter I do not expect to overwinter But Hey, You Never Know [shrug emoji]

I am mildly embarrassed that the most competent tomatoes this year are... self-seeded in the bed in the greenhouse that I've utterly failed to do anything with, but OH WELL, bonus late-autumn tomatoes it is!

And still looking like one (1) aubergine. I am not sure how best to Prepare It to maximise appreciation...

Observing. Still a bat!

Since I know nothing about the movie, I am now bemusedly imagining shipping volcanoes with... each other? Fault lines? A doomed love affair with a city? (Oh dear, didn't they hear about Pompeii and Herculaneum?)

Nah, see. There's these two competent geologists, and it's, like '97? so of course the movie rules of the time requires fridging one of the competent women. i live in house denial where we ship these two women (and the competent dude who's trying to save the day), so yena happily enabled kab.

I kept looking over at yena and going "What's Kab saying now?" At one point, yena: "i think we broke kab."

(It is possible that yena occasionally pokes at me to write future fic in rachel lives verse, and one of these days i might get back to it. hah.)

Seems reasonable the self-seeded ones would do well - those ones really wanted to live! And liked the spot they hatched in!

Sorry if I have told you this before.

Heather (who used to be a vulcanologist) and I went to see _San Andreas_ so she could point and laugh (although apparently the geology is not as bad as she expected).

At the start of the film the protag is separated from his wife (and child); since you are not completely devoid of genre savviness, you already know that during the film he will rescue her (although it was modern enough that she does a bit of self-rescuing) and they will be reconciled.

Obviously this is because she asked for a no-fault divorce.
