[and pause]

I had instrument time booked, yesterday and today; I'd budgeted the energy for it.
The autosampler's broken, though, so while the rest of the machine's working just fine there's no adequate way to actually get sample solution introduced, and so instead I've been at home.
Meanwhile, in another part of the academic forest, I sent the latest round of edits to my supervisor Sunday last; she'd been hoping to get them turned around & back to me by the end of Monday, but she's been slammed so that hasn't happened.
In theory I could have been using the time and energy to do background reading, or maybe start throwing desultory words at the thesis introduction or even possibly chapter 3, but in fact what I've done is (1) reply to some social e-mails (!), (2) make a lot of phone calls, and (3) write a complaint letter, many of which I'd been putting off for Some Time and some of which are New And Exciting (at least to me, and I will provide details tomorrow one way or another but I don't want to jinx It).
Because, hey, words-brain is words-brain is words-brain, apparently, and I had some lined up, and -- well. I've now actually read the letter from Atos regarding my complaint about how they handled my PIP application, and I drafted an "okay thanks for these bits, you've missed my point here, and also I have these outstanding concerns related to your response"... and then A made me go back and double-check my actual complaint and it TURNS OUT that these fuckers have just completely, deliberately, wilfully elided two crucial points of my complaint, vis, (1) the glaring discrepancy between the number of points I was given in the awards letter versus the assessment report, and (2) their legal obligation to explain why exactly they believe me to have Magically Got Better.
It won't do me much good in the immediate, of course, but it might be useful to present to the tribunal that's hearing my appeal, at some unspecified future date.
