Okay, so periodically I play the game of "I would like to meet the jewelry or elsewise art (preferably wearable) that goes with this name". Because armour comes in many forms and habits, and so on.

THEREFORE I am going to write them down so they are not simply rattling around my head or as disparate tags on this here journal:

my true name [which needs to have inherent the danger & recklessness of bearing one's true name openly]
mythologising the self/automythopoeia
the self as landscape
patchwork scraps of grace
the self as statuary

-- which will do for now (though by all means play in comments).

...Idungeddit?

(One of these days I need to get one of them name necklaces that says 'Alex' in pretty font. I don't think that's what you're talking about, though.)

That phrase I have no context for.

I'm fairly convinced these are all Rapid Offensive Units from Banks' Culture ;)

(They could be GSVs, but the names have extra layers and resonance (or lack of in the case of 'No Echoes' {grin}) if they're ROUs).

Ok. So. I've never played with art before, or not like that. And i'm not familiar with any of the artists in the comments, seeing as the body I inhabit is totally blind, but the phrase Patchwork scraps of grace sparked something in my mind. It's kind of abstract, so it may not make a single lick of sense, but I figured I'd put it out here for you anyhow.

I'd imagine this would be a mixed media art piece. It'd all look like one picture from a distance, but as you get closer, you realize that it's a patchwork of little tiny squares, with little pictures, maybe by several different artists, in several different styles, with separate materials etc, depicting various kinds of grace, you know. Angel wings, skaters gliding across ice, birds in flight, or whatever grace is to you since it seems that stuff is generally really subjective.

Oooh! We like the shinies. We also like photos even if we can't see them, becaaause we have sighted people who don't mind describing. <3

But we're huge jewelry fans, especially unique stuff and that all sounds amazing!

Oh goodness, that's a gorgeous list. I would love to return the ball, but have not been in a particular beady mood of late (it's all been coming out in words, instead). Perhaps in a couple of weeks, when I have actual proper leave.

Re: the self as statuary: I heard this poem set to music as part of the Margaret album release concert (which was incredible, and I need to blog about it) and it really grabbed me. There was like a whole day when those last two lines were just rattling around my head over and over. Not wearable, but perhaps relevant to your interests nonetheless.

For The Self As Statuary, I immediately thought of the Fortitude from the Tarot of the Silicon Dawn: http://us-p.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Peganthyrus/8_-_Fortitude.jpg (depicts a probably-woman with glossy maroon-ish skin with six arms as a caryatid, dressed in a BDSM-y outfit, with two arms holding up the ceiling, three posing, and one pressed down on the haunch of an anthropomorphic lion of ambiguous gender/sex who is on all fours on the floor; other such caryatids are shadowed in the distance, but no other lions)

While you can't wear it, it is in some sense a functional object?

I really like 'mythologising the self' (or 'automythopoeia'); 'mythopoiesis' is one of my favourite words. ♥

my true name [which needs to have inherent the danger & recklessness of bearing one's true name openly]

Not wearable, but wearing your true name as a work of jewelery could make the core for a fascinating piece of fiction.
