WHAT IF I JUST WISH TO MANIPULATE EVERYONE I INTERACT WITH INTO QUITTING SMOKING BECAUSE OF A ~MORAL CRUSADE~ AND THINK THE BEST WAY TO BE COERCIVE IS HISTRIONICS
WHAT THEN
WHAT IF I DESTROYED MY ~~~BEST RELATIONSHIP EVAR~~~ BECAUSE HISTRIONICS
[spoiler alert: I am about as angry about how much brain power this pointless paranoia takes up as I am about being this fucking ill in the first place]
Yes, that is baseless paranoia. You are not trying to manipulate people; if anything, it sounded as though you were making an effort not to manipulate TOG on this subject.
I have never observed you to be coercive or histrionic. I will grant that I have not observed your interactions with TOG, but—wait this is a public post. Um. How to phrase without risking breaking lock?
...yeah, I think I'll stick with "I have never observed you to be coercive or histrionic".
No, he was a shit boyfriend because even if it were histrionics, it was also visibly injuring you, and he noticed that you were having difficulty breathing before you did that time, he knew he had been smoking, and he didn't do jack shit to stop it.
Contrast the sort of relationship where a friend inadvertently brings up a topic which can be relied upon to set off the-thing-which-quacks-like-PTSD in me, notices that I am affected badly, apologizes, and changes the subject to something which he knows is likely to distract me and calm me down, and makes a note about not treading there in the future.
EVEN IF IT WERE ~~~ALL IN YOUR HEAD~~~ HE WAS STILL A SHIT BOYFRIEND.
Speaking as someone who actually does have a moral crusade to eliminate all smoking everywhere, you definitely don't sound like such a person. I mean, I would've considered someone who smoked to immoral to even start dating in the first place, so I'm pretty sure you're being reasonable and tolerant.
