  • Julie seems to be happy with the Anatahan samples, so I don't need to dissolve dupes.
More dissolutions
French RM (3): UB-N, AN-G, AL-I
G/H/T (6 ?x2): H28, H38, H64, G6, G117, T557
Marquesas dupes (2): UH53, TH14 (maybe one more each of FH01, TH13 too)
Chauvel new, no lead (8 ?x2): HV64, HV76, TH4, TH5, TH8, TH31, TH39, 108B
Chauvel new, lead (11 ?x2): RRT-032, RRT-037, 74-386, 74-390, 74-396, TBA09, K109, 5434, 5436, 5433, 5435
(IODP crap: 3)

Total: 30, i.e. 3x rounds of chemistry, huh, is that all? (Ignoring IODP stuff and dupes (except Marquesas definite dupes)

Okay, arbitrary subdivision:

Round 1: RRT-032, RRT-037, 74-386, 74-390, 74-396, TBA09, K109, 5433, 5434, 5435

Round 2: 5436, UB-N, AN-G, AL-I, H28, H38, H64, G6, G117, T557

Round 3: HV64, HV76, TH4, TH5, TH8, TH31, TH39, 108B, UH53, TH14

NB need to talk to Julie + Mark about sensible ways to keep elutions from ESPECIALLY round 3 but also if poss round 1.

Not intending to start next week - Too Many Of Thing - but might be able to get done before term starts, depending. HURRAH.

It's even possible that the effort spent on developing the final layer of distraction is a net energy loss. The time/energy saved from rationalizing other tasks is best spent on adequate space to explore edges with randomness, flow and invention.

The 'to-do'/'ta-da' lists feel a bit like unlocking achievements, but that mindset is a bit more difficult when dealing with complex data-sets and analyses as opposed to household tasks like doing the washing-up or making dinner.

it appears that you are planning to do lots of letters and numbers. For science. :-P

Personally (and obv YMMV) I find that "thinking" tasks divide into two: the methodical ("plan want steps I must go through to validate this model"), which I can break down and plan like nearly any task, and the creative ("why is this result not as expected? What's the mechanism here? ") which doesn't work that way.

I suspect experimental work is inherently discrete, thinking is inherently continuous. One gives you natural stopping places, the other not so much....
