It is 1pm; I have not yet managed to leave the house, in part because neither getting my wheelchair up the stairs then dealing with buses nor getting the tube then walking 2x500m sounds like a thing I want to deal with.

Things that have happened with buses in the last week include: the driver who told me that he already had a buggy on board and therefore couldn't take me but would radio the station to let them know the next bus HAD to have me... and the next bus already had a buggy on (which DID move that time thank FUCK it's not like they're legally required to or anything); the number of times I've had to yell "ramp please" up a crowded bus because the driver completely ignored the fact that I'd pressed the stop request button and was pulling out of the stop; the time the driver extruded the ramp with a fuckin' lamppost right at the end so I couldn't use it; the time the driver extruded the ramp while so far from the curb that it flopped sadly onto the main road surface beside the pavement; the awkward social interactions where I have to smile pleasantly at people who are astonished that I can manoeuver my chair competently in tight spaces; ...

This is hardly a brilliant accessibility solution, but would a fold-up scooter get the 2 x 500m walks over more swiftly? I'm not familiar with your mobility impairments, for all I know it could make it much worse, but a blogger i follow just cottoned onto this as a foot pain solution and i thought it ingenious...
