I am currently on cast-on #3 of glove #1 for this pair of gloves. Earlier today I achieved pattern repeat #3 for the second time (and pattern repeat #4 for the first). (I gave up on dropping stitches in the actual reversible cable and sorting them out with a crochet hook, so yeah, I frogged a repeat and a half BUT at least I managed to do so in a way that didn't require me to go for cast on #4.)
I am very pleased that I decided Sod It, A Treet For Alex re ridiculous cable needles.
I am remembering how to read knitting. I am sort of remembering how tension works. I have memorised the current section of pattern sufficient to read a new-to-me book and only wind up swearing and going back a half-dozen stitches every now and then. I am once again grimly swearing to myself that one of these years I am going to learn continental.
I am astonished by how well this cable pattern is showing up given that I'm using cotton.
... I'm still going to put lifelines in before I actually start experimenting with short rows, though. But I've got a little while yet before I hit that point...
