(slightly) more helpfully: I wound up in possession of two leaky inflatable dinosaurs -- a T-rex and a dimetrodon of some ilk -- and, rather than try to shove even one of them into the flexible plastic recycling bags we get picked up once a week by the veg box people, today we stomped halfway down the hill to (i) drop off a box of Stuff at the charity shop, and (ii) post the dinosaurs into Waitrose's Flexible Plastic Recycling trial. in practice what this means is that I walked up to the bin, furtively extracted the deflated dinosaurs, and shoved them in while reassuring myself that they are neither bottles nor hard plastic, and as such it was okay that I hadn't first sliced them up and reassembled them into A Plastic Bag.
my reward was a cut-price individual raspberry trifle, and then we went home and got another (small!) box of Stuff out the house: I was delighted to discover that "misc 90s kids stationery" really did get snapped up on Freecycle.
these are not the only things that happened today! but they give, I think, some of the Flavour.
