Feb. 21st, 2021 10:34 pmReading. A slow start on a reread of Two Serpents Rise, Max Gladstone.
Writing. This week I have been mostly typesetting chapter 2 and thinking about chapter 5and having migraines. ... oh! And working out (1) which data groups to apply Student's t-test to, and (2) how to present the resulting data in a way that is merely mostly (as opposed to utterly) hideous to read.
Watching. CXG S02E09. ( Read more... )
A Knight's Tale (2001), as ongoing remote watching with cousins. At least two of them went in thinking they didn't like it At All, and came out going "... okay fine I like at least a third of it", which I will take. (Context: A was -- for Reasons -- absent for the beginning of the film, and when he got back turned up the volume on the TV... and then turned it up again... because I'd apparently had it super quiet because even without subtitles on I, uh, have. it memorised. so yes this was very much my nomination and I VERY much enjoyed introducing it to More People.)
Listening. TMA 195! ( Read more... )
Playing. More Myst IV! Both Atrus and Catherine are terrible parents, which at least explains why Catherine puts up with him, I suppose!
We are now most of the way through the Reptiles jigsaw puzzle (I having got it to a point where A was finding it more possible to engage with again) and will, I expect, be finishing it off this week.
And, of course, dragons and honking.
Eating. Our first Ruby Violet subscription box showed up! It contains a gingerbread ice cream, stracciatella, the Permanently Amazing salted caramel & almond brittle, plus blood orange and rhubarb sorbets. I was extremely dubious about the rhubarb going in but it is in fact amazing; the blood orange might yet grow on me or might wind up being A's (which is all to the good, given how much he's enjoying it); the gingerbread is Extremely and I need to work out what I wanna balance it with (if anything); we have yet to try the stracciatella, but are excited to do so.
Growing. Sown: ~24 chillis (6 varieties) and [fx: awkward mumbling] somewhere between 50 and 100 tomatoes (one tray of Feo de Rio Gordo, and one tray of Misc Salad Tomatoes In A Variety Of Interesting Colours, being up to 7 varieties depending on whether my dead-these-ten-years-may-she-rest-in-peace grandmother's collection of elderly Moneymaker actually germinate). I am holding off on peppers until the chilli are far enough along that I've got space in the propagator, because I did not entirely think things through. And! the basil various is starting to grow true leaves! fingers crossed I manage to actually keep them alive, eh.
