[embodiment] ... huh.
Dec. 26th, 2025 11:50 pmMy mother has today loaned me some knee-high compression socks in a fun design and... the amount of presyncope I've been getting on standing up from squatting is approximately None, despite feeling while squatting like It's Gonna Be A Bad One When I Stand Up. So I'm probably going to be buying myself more of them as my mother's present to me for this winterval.
Obviously I was delighted when I got to page 7 and found the rainbow...

Date: 2025-12-27 04:25 pm (UTC)Ooh, bookmarking this for future browsing - I ended up trying out a pair of compression socks at a con sort of by accident (I forgot the knee-high black socks that went with a cosplay and the only ones I could find on short notice were compression ones from CVS) and they did seem to make a difference to how tired my feet and legs felt the next day, so I am interested in getting a few pairs to try out more...

Date: 2025-12-27 04:59 pm (UTC)Ruth eventually got me to try compression socks as a recovery aid after long runs and unfortunately it’s real. 😅 I was annoyed by not being able to understand why it worked, but I think I’ve got at least a sloppy mental model of it now. (It must create a pump-like system that circulates inflammation and combustion products out faster and more completely?? Where incidental flexing and calf movements give half of the force and then the compression rebound does the other half?? Or something??)
