Reading. I was, in fact, sufficiently into someone else having an even worse time with science than I am that I inhaled the entirety of The Martian (Andy Weir) in less than 24h after the previous post.

I am trying not to launch straight into burying my head in More Narrative but now that I've read that having a go at his second book (which I acquired from a charity shop a while back) is quite high up the list.

Writing. So much, as I have discussed in detail and at length. Introduction and abstract d o n e (hopefully, subject to further feedback). I am scared of redoing my figures for chapter r2 and have spent a bunch of the weekend hiding from them, but hopefully my internally-imposed deadline wooshing by will make it easier to work on...

Watching. CXG S02E01. Read more... )

Listening. TMA 189, speculated about and commented on both in these pages and elsewhere.

Playing. Lots of dragons (it was another event week) and, also, a bunch more Among Us, with two different sets of people. I have now played all the maps! I have successfully impostored! It is (significantly to my own surprise) great fun, and I have Thoughts on how to continue engaging with it in Sneakier Ways.

Cooking. jam :( did not set. boiled it up again with one sachet of pectin per flavour. did not boil it sufficiently vigorously; it did wrinkle on being put onto a cold plate but is definitely still runny (and is now also cloudy). probably I will resentfully have a Third Go at boiling it up more aggressively; I've been scared ever since I made boiled-sweet bergamot marmalade but it is Time To Stop Chickening Out.

Growing. Mrgh. Fell down on physical pest control on the lemon this week, and it dropped several leaves (one spontaneously) today. I have babied it some more, and will... keep going with that.

The current round of holy basil appears to be reaching the end of its viable lifespan, alas, so probably I should get some more started in the propagator.

What else? Quick trip in on Tuesday (post-physio) to feed the bin and pick some more tomatoes and another tiny handful of raspberries (which I am not used to thinking of as being seasonally available in November but there we go.

Oh! And the garlic I saved from last growing season, and put in the ground a couple of weeks ago, is sprouting! So that's exciting. MORE GARLIC FOR US is on the horizon.
