On our most recent trip to Cornwall A made a bunch of recordings of The Waves and The Wind and (occasionally) The Birds for me. I am starting to listen through them to establish that they do not contain Unpleasant Surprises, for the purpose of having Soothing Noise to listen to in hospital.
I have thereby discovered that I can play said recordings using the bone-conduction headphones and have a completely normal conversation simultaneously, because the sounds slot so well into the Ah Yes Home bit of my hindbrain that instead of being Extra Processing (Bad) it just winds up being reassuring.
I am delighted by this proof of concept.
