kaberett | some things make a post!

Yesterday we discovered that instead of containing Seven Eggs the coot nest I insisted we hunt on our way to the pharmacy last week now contains three SHIT TINY BABIES and four eggs! (I wasn't fast enough on my bad ankle to actually go count while the parents were swapping over, but I sent A running.) Today I turned out not to have a GP appointment but didn't discover this until I was at the bottom of the hill anyway; I didn't get to watch a swap or count today but I did get to watch the out-and-about parent repeatedly bring food for the stay-in-nest parent, saw one of the babies, and heard lots of muffled cheeping.

At the plot: the broad beans I had given up on are coming up! The direct-sown soup peas ditto! And to my delight so far the various started-indoors peas have not yet been obliterated by the Depredations of the Gastropods. (Sitting and doing my morning Duolingo in the sunshine was very, very pleasant.)
Indulging A's whims: we got ice cream from the supermarket to eat on our way back up the hill. Apparently it was very important that I join in this activity, but I am also very picky; I squinted suspiciously at the available offerings, plumped for Solero Exotic Ice Cream Sticks, and was very pleasantly surprised by the experience.
We have hit, I think, the tipping point with the current puzzle -- I'm pretty sure we're over half done at this point in terms of area, which means everything is getting suddenly easier give or take the bit where the range of colours left in the box is... somewhat less helpful when it's all "yeah, misc blue and greens" than when you can still usefully pick out the hot pinks. I am finding it delightfully frustrating in terms of the way things I've spent a non-trivial amount of time staring at suddenly announce happily how they fit together, leaving me sputtering at how it took me this long to notice. I am really enjoying myself.
