vital functions

... yeah the field kind of ate me and then I spent a lot of this past week asleep but, okay, let's see, what have I done Since Last Time...

Reading. Tiiiny amount more of I Contain Multitudes, Ed Yong.

Listening. Indeligig! Which I was not in great brain/shape for, but hey, I did get to be in a room while Mentally Ill was played, which is always a good time.

Playing. Admin: the LRP, mostly. We are a week post-event and I have still not finished my paperwork, let alone set any of my over-winter projects in motion...

Cooking. I have in the Instant Pot at present my first attempt at batch-caramelising onions (mostly using the slow-cooker function). I will know how it turns out... tomorrow, I suppose.

Dried apple in Dundee cake definitely worked entirely acceptably.

Eating. Raspberries at the plot still going! Many MANY post-crew-party cake, which I am happy about. Aforementioned Dundee cake.

Exploring. Another Whipsnade visit!

Also a local Field Of Horses (I needed to Spend Some Time Near Horse), and a bit more time in the town park, during which perambulations:

[Ruddy brown stable door, with decorative horseshoe, set into the side of a deep teal-grey corrugated container. A strand of nonsense decorative ivy is determinedly climbing up one of the depressions, fading from red at the ground through peach and yellow to a very pale green in the smallest leaves at the top.]

Growing. I might get one whole aubergine?! Very annoyed that while I was in a field someone dug up the feet of the more compelling Gigantes and it died; hoping that the secondary ones will manage to get any beans at all to adulthood. Purple basil continues to exist.

Observing. Many MANY creatures, at Whipsnade and elsewhere, none of which I am going to list now because It Is Bedtime, sorry. Keep an eye out for backdated posts, maybe?

I remember mostly liking I Contain Multitudes but thinking it had some Unfortunate Stuff about autism and gut bacteria. So ... I guess this is a note so it doesn't catch you completely unprepared, if you haven't hit that part yet.
