bits and pieces
Mar. 1st, 2013 07:15 pm- the company I bought a bike pump from had been having troubles with their supplier; after I sent them a message, they had a rummage and ended up digging out two models up in the same brand (which sells for about twice the price) and couriering it over to me (!!). Very, very happy with them; Bliss Bikes if'n you're interested
- I am super-excited about post today: my copy of Sông I Sing arrived (& woozl promptly made gleeful noises at it; thanks,
littlebutfierce!) - I've been listening to Seanan McGuire's album Wicked Girls on repeat, and I... kind of want to write fic for all of it, I've just got no idea where to even START; never mind, I'm sure something will coalesce
- lunch today was all of us, er, Having Fun: there was rosemary & olive oil La Brea in the co-op, and I have an enormous soft spot for La Brea; there were avocados at a reduced price and I've been wanting them for ages; so what with one thing and another we ended up with ONE BOWL CONTAINING sliced avocado, thinly sliced fennel, salt, pepper, lemon juice; and ONE BOWL CONTAINING white bean and toasted garlic dip courtesy of
noldo; and this constituted FOOD tyvm -
noldo and the woozl BROUGHT ME A JAR OF KAYA BACK FROM THEIR SHOPPING TRIP AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH :D - ongoing e-mail exchange with the university's Disabilities lot, which is tentatively starting to look helpful - we've set up a meeting
- I have spent lots of today sorting out my ebook library, which has been very soothing; also, if you have anything to do with ebooks, get Calibre coz it's awesome
- WTF, Evolution? continues a source of great joy in my life (noooooooooooooooooooooose squid!)
- DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG
- I've just been introduced to this lovely, quiet little poem via

Date: 2013-03-01 09:03 pm (UTC)-eternally a 12 year old boy-
Also, coonhounds. ♥ We had a blue tick coonhound and she was the sweetest aminal ever. She would make rounds at night and crawl into bed and stretch her loooooooooong body along whoever was sleeping in the bed to warm them up. Then, once the person was warmed up, she'd hop out and move to the next bed.
(We were po' and heated with wood which, in our slapdash drafty house, was a completely inefficient way of heating. And it was regularly in the single digits F or below zero or faaaaaaaaar below zero during the winter.)
She was also smart as fuck. We had to move the entire kitchen table in front of the fridge if we had something that we wanted to keep away from her because she figured out how to open it even if we put 3 chairs stacked in front of it. After she moved the kitchen table one Thanksgiving while we were at the fam's house and ate half the turkey in one sitting, we started keeping the Really Important Food outside in the smoker. :P (Lemme tell you, that made getting leftovers off the turkey or ham pretty fun during the winter hols.)
