This morning I had a dispiriting phone appointment with my GP, in which I totally failed to advocate for drugs or referrals that might actually help. The plan -- I picked up some riboflavin on Monday -- is to continue at the current dose of candesartan while I complete the course of riboflavin (6-8 weeks at 400mg daily; I have 50 days' worth) and then reassess, unless any of the side effects of candesartan (swelling of the feet and ankles that is now asymmetrical and associated with increasing pain, worsening urinary retention, increasingly sore gums...) get significantly worse, because apparently "talk to your doctor immediately" means "you can leave it several weeks and your doctor's entire response will be [shrug emoji]".

This afternoon I got a form text message from my GP surgery following up with some bloods I had done on Tuesday, signed by the GP who talked to me this morning, advising me that I have elevated cholesterol and should follow standard NHS advice on lowering it.

Standard NHS advice is, naturally, to get more exercise (which I'd love to do! but! migraines!), eat more healthily (ditto!), drink less alcohol (...), and stop smoking (.....).

Meanwhile, literally fifteen seconds with Google got me to Tana et al. (2015):
This study shows a significant positive association between migraine frequency and intensity with total and LDL cholesterol, demonstrating for the first time a significant reduction of these lipid parameters after migraine prophylaxis. However, in view of the retrospective design of the study and the small population size, these results should be considered as preliminary, to be confirmed by future prospective controlled trials.

Wait. Are you telling me that migraines are a potential cause for my high LDL?

(It's slowly slowly coming down with the topamax and ubrelvy but not fast enough to suit my np and she is very displeased that we can't find a source for my migraines)
