Today I have mostly cooked a ridiculous quantity of food, and also while my auxiliary internet device (i.e. my phone) spent a bit of time sulking and refusing to power on, it has now calmed down again.

I remain... mostly amused, I think, that -- I got a wearable device! I still need to reply to all of your comments! they were very helpful; thank you! -- apparently "doing the washing up" is significantly better cardio exercise than doing my damn Pilates. And, well, Pilates isn't supposed to be cardio, but also -- really? Really?!

Huh. I wonder if standing up is inherently More Work than lying down as a baseline thing enough that the specific muscle workouts of Pilates doesn't jump to more than the dish washing motions?

I tend to feel the core muscle intensity of some of those Pilates movements much more acutely, but I guess it being basline less cardio does feel possible.

Hope you continue to enjoy having your biometrics ready to hand.

Is it measuring your heart rate? Or just if you're moving? Or...? I can definitely imagine that doing the washing up would involve more wrist movement than holding Pilates positions.

I bought one of those Etsy cloth bands since your last post, and for the past few weeks I've had my Misfit Command smartwatch/fitness band hybrid (slowly dying of water damage) on my wrist, and my Garmin Vivosmart HR (my skin hates it) in the cloth band, on my ankle, and I'm comparing the results.

The Garmin is very convinced I'm climbing lots of stairs, which I attribute to sometimes putting it on upside-down, plus leg movements that might signify step-climbing if my arms had made them instead. The step count is lower but roughly comparable to the Misfit's step count. Same order of magnitude. The heart-rate tracking doesn't seem much less credible than before, but given that that's a "before" in which it was capable of finding a pulse on a plastic dinosaur... well. Notably, it hasn't detected my sleep at all since I started wearing it on my ankle.

I picked up a pair of connector pieces off etsy (the bits that attach to my fitbit model, and then they just have a pin to add your own strap) and at some point am planning to hunt up appropriately sized soft elastic or sommat - maybe you could do something similar for a more-pleasing-material strap?

Anything that has you moving your arms about is surprisingly good cardio - it's prolly why Conductors tend to live so long

Good that the AIDe is behaving itself again.

Good to have the biometric device.
