Nov. 14th, 2021 10:46 pmMigraine week.
Reading. But I nevertheless managed to read a thing! Specifically, I managed to complete my comfort-reread of The Scorpio Races, by Maggie Stiefvater. I still love this book a lot -- and I still especially love Finn, the autistic younger brother -- but-and I also continue to roll my eyes a little at the idea that you could go to school on a tiny island you can pretty much walk across and... not know all of the kids by reputation if not by sight? I mean, I'm faceblind and have terrible social memory and I'm still a bit "I am not sure this book understands how small rural populations actually work?" That and "... it is really not clear to me how such a small island sustains that kind of annual death rate of young healthy boys for hundreds of years", but hey. I did pick up more underlying lore that I'd previously been oblivious to, and I am very pleased to have reread it and amused-startled at the number of bits I'd just... completely forgotten.
Watching. In my one evening off from migraine: Farscape S01E02, plus a few minutes of S01E01 while we tried to remember what exactly had happened. It is apparently Much More Nineties than A remembers; I am not hooked yet.
Playing. Splendor, lots. A couple of rounds on my evening off from migraine, both of which I lost comprehensively; one this evening, which I won comprehensively (once I'd noticed for the second time that I could win straightforwardly, and stopped trying to chase more nobles, none of whom I'd have managed to get because I'd have exceeded the points threshold for end-game before I ever did...)
Cooking. Continuing to tweak recipes for both sea-spicy aubergine and the confit tandoori chickpeas; chickpeas are nearly there, and would probably have been Good Enough To Write Up For Future Reference if I hadn't forgotten the curry leaves and lemon.
Eating. Bonus PIZZA EXPRESS PIZZA, acquired for takeaway on the way home from A&E yesterday, and then eaten in the car like horrible goblins. With DOUGH BALLS.
Making & mending. The rest on the bookchair has unscrewed itself. I managed some preliminary investigation, and I think I'm going to need to apply wood filler in order to reassemble it...
Growing. Basil "cutting" hasn't rooted yet. Plants otherwise all continue to survive!

Date: 2021-11-17 04:45 pm (UTC)I do not (as you know) even have that specific concern, and I still miss them. (The local one shut up shop and has moved out over the course of the pandemic, so we no longer have one in walking distance even once we're happy to, you know, do that. :( )
