tl;dr: sucks to be me!

  • do check in with GP explicitly about whether I've been referred to a general neurology dept or a specialist headache clinic
  • Guys' & St Thomas' and KCL are also good bets
  • it might be worth contacting the hospital I've been referred to directly to make it clear I can come in at short notice if there are cancellations
  • my GP probably can actually usefully be induced to prescribe me supplements, given that the other treatments we've tried haven't worked
  • I did not get a clear statement on the evidence base for "even if the preventatives have absolutely no effect at all whatsoever you've got to try them for at least 8 weeks and preferably 12"
  • I did get a statement both that oestrogen gels/patches are probably safe for migraine with aura (...) and that they're not relevant to me anyway (because of cycle length variation)
  • also worth asking GP about non-oral delivery routes for triptans, though I am not holding my breath about those working either
  • I can take triptans up to 10 days/month and other analgesia up to 15 days/month, which nominally gets me 25 days/month when I can use acute treatments, which I would consider more useful if triptans actually worked (: but yeah no even if I'm taking the painkillers for non-headache pain, lol, gotta stick to fewer than 15 days per month
  • waiting times are indeed just shit

Which does at least give me a bunch of stuff to fill out yet another eConsult with next week, once I've spent my weekend having my second round of migraine for this week.
