[healthwork, footnotes] ... huh
Dec. 3rd, 2020 11:54 pmFirst appointment with physio for this ankle was on the 12th of November, where I got given a few exercises to do that (left entirely to my own devices) seemed to be making me worse, not better.
I had my first in-person appointment on the 24th of November (and the next is coming up on the 8th, next week). I've been doing my exercises... somewhat desultorily, but having been told I have Too Much Range Of Motion and to Put Some Back I have not continued fucking up my knee with them...
... and I realised yesterday that my ankle is obviously improving. Both in that it's much less crackly when I rotate it (it's almost feeling more stable than my left ankle at this point, in that respect, despite not having actually injured my left ankle!) and the puffiness is even going down! I am proper impressed and very grateful. (And intending to start doing the exercise I've been doing right-foot-only with my left one, too. >_>)

Which part of hEDS don't they get?
(I was extremely glad to be wearing supportive boots yesterday when I managed to go over on my ankle trying to pick up a stack of garden chairs. I literally felt them stop my ankle going further sideways. If I'd chosen to wear trainers instead there's a pretty good chance I might have needed to brave A&E).

Date: 2020-12-04 12:11 am (UTC)I was wearing hiking boots when I did mine in! And have been lacing them more tightly ever since.
They mostly get the hEDS; they just hadn't quite twigged that if told to go as far up onto my tiptoes as I can during standing heel raises this is, uh, further than they expect until I. showed up. and said "this hurts, what should I do differently?" and demonstrated. >_>

Date: 2020-12-04 12:41 am (UTC)As for ROM, sounds like when I complained to my physio the neck rotation was making me dizzy.
"How far round were you looking?"
"Pretty much straight back"
"Um, don't go that far"
;)

Date: 2020-12-04 06:08 am (UTC)it is truly fascinating how much more useful and effective the Stretches become when one suddenly gains access to a PT with enough experience (seniority? ability to care?) to notice one's hypermobility and then tell you how to modify exercises, yay for that!
