Dishwasher broke on Monday, though this was confirmed late enough Monday night that we didn't bother catching up with the washing-up then.

We have done two and a bit stints since, and to my very great resentment this is actually resulting in the kitchen being overall cleaner than I've been managing from the depths of the Thesis Swamp.

On the downside, this means we've got A Person Coming Into Our House on Monday (we have masks, we have lots of windows that can and will be opened, the parent company sent us a video that we ***MUST*** watch in advance and then comply with to keep their repair human safe).

On the upside: we bought a new one as Our Very First Action upon Becoming Homeowners on the 9th of October 2018.

It failed on the 28th of September 2020.

It has a two-year warranty.

Huzzah for it failing on the proper side of the warranty. Boo on it failing that quickly, all the same.

Wow. That's not how it's supposed to (not) work. Failures are to commence starting 48 hours after the warranty expires. But I suppose sometimes a company will get it wrong - grin - Congrats!

Regarding the intrusion into the house, it does seem at least they have protocols - a video! - and some kind of sense of concern, which is good. (And unfortunately rare? anecdotally speaking, which might be misleading.) It's a relief that the touching of objects turned out not to be the great concern it was first thought to be but it's still unsettling to have someone in. I'm setting up a helping service soon and am not quite sure how we're going to navigate around each other, frankly.

I hope the weather cooperates for your window-opening and that the repairs go swiftly and well.

Oh, good timing! Also, yay for companies that want to keep their repair humans safe, as this hopefully also keeps y'all safe!

Clearly the planned obsolescence feature was written by a programmer.

That's up there with my car exhaust that failed at 11 months 3 weeks when it had a year's warranty. *And* I had the original receipt (a bit stained) still in the door pocket of the car.

On the downside, the replacement only lasted 13 months.
