On Sunday I'm giving a geek talk (rocks how old are they?/stone age inquisition, a follow-up to last year's talk entitled they're all good rocks bront) and so far I have four and a half (4½) bullet points scribbled down in pencil in about February. (Talk will be at 13:30 BST, assuming I don't bail on it, and I imagine I can hand out a Zoom link if you want to try gatecrashing.)

I have belatedly realised that bullet point #5 is "geeky media in which the age of rocks plays an important role", but it's 9.30pm and (I don't know if you've noticed but) it's Bloody Warm and I need to write this tomorrow in practical terms so, er, suggestions gratefully received.

Oh gosh, ok, your two examples are already WAY more age-of-rock-related than anything I expected to be able to think of. Have a great talk!

In terms of extras... Steven Universe? I googled for anything promising and https://www.tor.com/2019/09/09/the-rise-of-geoscience-fiction-seven-books-about-remaking-the-world/ listed TWO books about time-travelling academic geologists but I don't know anything else about them.

Honourable mention: in s01e06 of The Good Place:

Michael: “We're gonna start with the rocks. Now, I've investigated all of the rocks in the neighborhood. These 78 are the most suspicious. […] Do any of them look defective? Sinister? You know, like they're taunting you?”

It’s a one-off joke rather than a serious plot thread, and I can't find any pictures, but rocks!

Bugger, I already packed my copy of Rocks of Nation by Shelley Trower but a Bram Stoker short story called "The Jewel of the Seven Stars" has lots of stuff about granite as primitive and ghostly and scary.
