Reading. ... oh gosh. Possibly... nothing? Possibly nothing. Except for twenty-some papers on the partitioning of cerium between clinopyroxene and basaltic melt, which I do now have much more of a grip on than I did circa Friday afternoon, but also. But also.

Next up: I appear to have borrowed The Story of my Life, by Helen Keller, from the library (as an ebook!) on the grounds that I'm in a non-cerium non-fiction-y sort of a mood, and it was available for immediate loan, but we shall see how I get on with it.

Watching. Jesus Christ Superstar (1999), as background on Saturday afternoon, because I... quoted something or other Biblical at Adam and he acquired a craving. This was the first time I'd seen it; it's been a while since I last saw the 1973 film, which I think I vastly prefer, for [reasons] to do with my personal history with Catholicism and how the emotional dynamics between Jesus and Judas are played.

Have we watched other things? I'm not sure we have. You know, except from all of the animal gifs. OH, and this fantastic demonstration of knife skills, via [personal profile] recessional. (Hey Adam, I kept meaning to show you that but not quite getting to it.)

Listening. TMA. We've just had episode 134. From this you can deduce that we are enjoying it, and also that with a last bit of push we will mostly be able to listen to S5 as it airs. ;)

Cooking. Okay, the notable thing for me this week was the Further Experiments In Sourdough: I have now got the banneton minus linen liner working, and for bonus points am managing to be really pretty consistent about getting very #aesthetic bread. The most recent loaf wasn't, but also I knew in advance that it wasn't going to be, so I am somewhat buoyed up by my Success here.

I have also done more research on How To Make The Yoghurt Go and am hmmmmmming about the apparent impact of elderly starter on texture, which might in fact explain more-or-less what I'm seeing. Further research needed.

... oh, right, and of course I did the yoghurt-rhubarb cake, and some soup that worked out very nicely once it had had a day to sit and stew in its own juices: carrots roasted with fennel seeds, plus a bulb of roasted garlic.

Creating. Little bits of colouring while I listen to TMA, as a thing I enjoy more than playing 2048! Slow progress on Vieussieuxia fugax; it'll probably pick up if I move the coffee table back into a better position relative to the living room lights, so I'm not casting shadow on it while attempting to blend colours, but I've been reluctant to because of the pet robot. Probably it has adjusted to life sufficiently well that I should just go ahead and Do That, though.

Making & mending. Oddly (...) the amount of TMA I'm listening to, combined with my best intentions, hasn't translated to actually doing the fix-up darning I've been meaning to get to, on one of my pairs of slipper socks. I think I need to have another stab at moving things around stepwise to Facilitate me Doing the Thing.

Growing. SO MANY TOMATOES. I have successfully got somewhere upward of 18 plants germinated at this point, almost all on their beginning True Leaves. I have not, I think, adequately prepared myself to pot them up; probably I need to bring back a trug of sifted muck from the compost bin at some point in the next week or so. The first batch of holy basil has perked up some with the application of dilute fertiliser; the secondary batch in the warm box is doing well; the peppers and chillis are very bravely putting out more true leaves but are not quite yet big enough for me to want to pot them up.

Every time I think about unwrapping the fig I wake up and it's frosted. I'm going to have to sooner rather than later, though -- its leaves are starting to unfurl, and it probably wishes to be done with the bubblewrap.

At the plot: I've got the fruit cage skeleton (complete with door) finalised! I've got almost everything I need to actually cover it with wire! Three of the four broad beans I planted out continue to struggle bravely on; the bin is warming up rapidly with the amount of weeds I'm feeding it; most of what I'm doing at the moment is weeding and manuring, largely with an eye to trying to get the raspberries at all under control. I'm enjoying it.

Observing. The wee robot, naturally. PATIO MOUSE. Lots of coal tits. Several foxes -- particularly on a drive down south of the river to deliver some groceries; I had never previously seen the North Circular that quiet.

Playing. PoGo: 95% SHINY AERODACTYL HATCHED FROM EGG. :D :D :D 98% Weird Blob from bed! And two Gothita, so far.

Scrabble: at Adam's suggestion/request, and for the second game running he beat me soundly. I am so proud. :D

Horn: I am not managing to settle to a practice routine in this brave new world, but I do in fact continue playing every day, And That's The Main Thing.

I personally will not watch any filmed 'Jesus Christ Superstar' that isn't the 1973 version, no other version has lived up to the high bar. (I dream of getting to play Herod.)

The fox outside my window at 1:15AM this morning was anything but quiet!

Sometimes, the scream sounds like a woman being murdered.

Mostly it's not quite that intense, but still a scream, this is a pretty good recording of one: https://www.earthtouchnews.com/in-the-field/backyard-wildlife/video-this-is-what-the-fox-screams/

The only thing it's missing is it's not pitch black and you know where it's coming from.

YAY TOMAT. And yay hashtag aesthetic bread. I am v. envious.

BTW, in case you missed it: Australian astrophysicist sticks metaphorical beans, actual magnets, up nose (and by "sticks" I mean they were neodynium, so they were stuck. The medical report is shown, and made me almost yell with laughter.)
