Here's a thing I'm finding helpful: yes, the Tories won a horrendous parliamentary majority, but in terms of vote share they lost out, nationally, to centre/left parties. Here's another thing I'm finding helpful: my new MP is a Kurdish woman, replacing a Change UK MP whose politics made me, in several respects, deeply uncomfortable; and in Enfield Southgate Bambos Charalambous kept his seat. The Electoral Reform Society also gives me hope. All of these things are concrete, statistical reminders about what proportion of the population of my country actually considers me disposable.

Nevertheless, we're still living in a political reality featuring alarming parallels to 1930s Germany. We've had a politician murdered by far-right terrorists; ongoing violations of the human rights of disabled people; TERFs (here's your connection); a government elected with a manifesto targetting Gypsies, Roma and Travellers (more).

In the first instance, I'm wanting to funnel my resources toward groups already under attack. Here's a starting point from me.

Organisations to give money to (many of which you can also volunteer with)

I’m going to poke at some of these and see if there’s anything I can do to help from all the way over here. Also, yay for your new MP!

You might want to take a look at [community profile] thisfinecrew, which has a mostly American membership and thus tends to collect/share suggestions for things that can be done over here.

Can I also suggest QueerCare Network (https://queercare.network/)? They do advocacy, community care and protest support.

Excellent list, and thank you for including the Belfast Trans Resource Centre - they are doing brilliant work here and I'm never sure how well known our local orgs are in the wider UK.

Have added you.

Signal boosted this over at my place, and joined [community profile] thisfinecrew. I was really inactive here after the 2016 US election, so I missed seeing that community. Looks like there will be a UK group soon.

Here via [community profile] thisfinecrew. Thank you for putting together this list — these are some excellent starting points. Is it all right to suggest other organisations in the comments here as well? As a migrant to the UK, I'm very concerned about what (worse) things are to come, and there are a lot of organisations doing good work on migrants' and refugees' rights.

Right, here are three suggestions:

The 3 Million advocates for the rights of EU citizens living in the UK (which, contrary to popular belief, are in no way secure).

British In Europe advocates for the rights of British citizens living elsewhere in the EU, which after Brexit, will no longer be uniform and based on EU free movement rights, but rather vary according to the non-EU immigration policies of each individual EU country.

The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants does really good work for all migrants in the UK, including advocacy, legal advice, and supporting people made vulnerable by the hostile environment.

Thank you for this post, it's got a few tabs still open for possible ongoing stuff and things, and has also got me to finally actually set up the regular donation to an organisation I had been meaning to support for a while (the local branch could only accept cheques! via the post! this does not suit my modern lifestyle!).

editorial note: your link to The Graun's suggestions is missing a single "s" from the end of the url (it ends "fake-new" instead of "fake-news") :)

Going to try and turn some of these into actions on Spoonless Activists, if that's okay with you? <3
