Reading. Not books: the summary of the Supreme Court decision re prorogation of parliament, a lot of news coverage of same, and The Hugo Award™ wank. (Plus work reading, but that doesn't get put here.)

Trans Mission, Alex Bertie. I stalled a bit on this early on in the week because of my substantive disagreements with the definitions provided for sex and gender, and I am definitely not the target audience, but it's good to know this exists. Feeling like I have deadlines on other books, so currently on pause.

Self-Compassion: Stop beating yourself up and leave insecurity behind, Kristin Neff. Recommended by Brené Brown, so having had it lying around for ages I'm having another go at this. Alas I don't appear to have got far enough through it on my previous attempt to record why it was a DNF, but I suspect it had a fair amount to do with the kind of sentence I read now and roll my eyes at a little ("sure, friend, I see what you're trying to get at, but I'm not convinced that's the most effective way to communciate it") but did not at the time have the skills to unpack. Stalled partway through via the magic of (1) wanting to make notes, (2) wanting to actually write up Daring Greatly before diving into an associated thing, and (3) feeling like I had Deadlines on other books.

tales from outer surburbia, shaun tan, on loan from [personal profile] sebastienne and thus read almost in its entirety on Sunday morning in the armchair in the bay window in order to return it, along with the author's more comments. I particularly loved Distant Rain and Grandpa's Story; I seriously considered whether I wanted to transcribe all the bonus news snippets from around the edges of the amnesia machine because they are all so startlingly viciously accurate.

Making A Tinderbox, Emma Sterner-Radley. Queers??? Recommended by the library ebook app??? She's Swedish so I am cautiously optimistic that her cheerful self-description as "lesfic" doesn't mean she's actually a TERF.

Cooking. Taught B how to sourdough, ish! This involved me experimenting some more with sourdough, which was perhaps mean.

I also established that I can do a pretty good Mass Spec Lunch Picnic via the medium of: one small tub containing Apfelmus and plain yoghurt; one medium tub with berries in the bottom and passionfruit yoghurt in the top; one medium-small tub containing houmous; a box containing A Variety Of Cheese; a big box containing Some Dried Fruits, A Fresh Fruit, A Bread, Some Ryvita; and maybe A Bonus Small Snack.

Exploring. Hastings, a bit more! Visited SEVERAL charity shop yes good. Saw Many Squirrel in the park.

Creating. I WROTE a tiny PYTHON SCRIPT and did SCIENCE with it and I am very excited about this, okay.

Observing. Stunning diffuse, and incredibly broad, double rainbow: Friday evening, directly in front of us as we were heading out of London.

Playing. from every spark a fire, a tiny H*archate game by [personal profile] yhlee.

Also got myself together to start prodding at Winterstrike, also by [personal profile] yhlee.

And did another round of The Witches, which I would like to play again with a slightly smaller gap than last time!

And learned Bärenpark also, LOOK at me Plays New Games.

Poking. Last week, not blogged: a second shiny Onix (wild!) and also a shiny Barboach (also wild). And lots of Unova Pokémon, including Foongus (TINY ANGERY MUSHROOM), Drilbut (MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE), Blitzle (electric pony!), Oshawott, and Klink, in addition to Patrat/Lillipup/Purrloin. Seen in the wild, not caught: the Purrloin evolution, which pretty. This week: wild-caught a shiny Minun (whyyyy) and a Zangoose (less whyyy), and also achieved Durant, Hurrah New Species. (While singing along to Frank Turner with my new voice.)
