serendipty & ritual
Sep. 5th, 2019 10:25 pmSerendipity: I decided that The Thing I Was Willing To Eat at lunchtime was A Burrito from That One Particular Burrito Place, and therefore despite the mild inconvenience on my way into lab this afternoon I stopped off at King's Cross. In turn, this landed me coming above ground at Green Park while [Pokémon Go] a Raikou raid was on... so out of incredibly idle hope I tapped on it... and there were seven people hanging out in the lobby... so I jumped for it and got in with 10 seconds to go on the lobby clock... and promptly caught my first shiny Raikou, aaaaaah. (It's 78% IVs and I almost don't even care.)
Ritual: A sees his therapist in the general vicinity of Euston, which means that he has set himself up a post-therapy Ritual of ordering dinner from the roti monarch, writing up his notes in the garden of Friends House while waiting for his takeaway to be ready to pick up. This means he gives himself enough positive reinforcement that he actively looks forward to therapy, which is a win all by itself, but also means that I regularly get brought Roti Tribute in the form, specifically, of roti kaya. As the roti monarch at Euston is wildly inaccessible and I very rarely make it down to Victoria these days, I also find this an extremely satisfactory arrangement.

Date: 2019-09-07 10:06 am (UTC)I have to be in London and in the vicinity of King's Cross for work next week. I'm very intrigued by the roit monarch, but can I also ask for details of the burrito place? It's far easier to find bad food than good in an unfamilliar place, unfortunately.

Date: 2019-09-07 12:10 pm (UTC)The burrito place is Benito's Hat in the KGX food court, which does Reliably The Same Food Every Time That's Full Of Vegetables and is therefore sometimes exactly what I need!
Roti King, you should be warned, always has a RIDICULOUS queue for tables. Other places I would recommend wholeheartedly nearby include Kokeb at Caledonian Road and Addis at King's Cross (I prefer Kokeb but Addis is more convenient!); Dishoom up in Granary Square (always has queues, very good); the Granary Square food market, which has lots of great stuff; and My Favourite Ice Cream In The World, http://rubyviolet.co.uk/.
