My bank, Lloyds, has sent me an *extremely* apologetic letter, assured me that cheques made out to me will no longer suffer the ignominious fate of being refused, and have given me £50 to say sorry.
I could've done much, MUCH worse out of that one. :-)

Or (as I'm more inclined to suspect) did the Lloyds head of legal get their hands dirty purely to fix one customer's account and they'll carry on being annoying to everyone else?

Date: 2012-07-12 08:25 am (UTC)TBH, I don't think there was a general policy change that *needed* making - i.e. I know several other people who also bank with Lloyds (including my mother! This isn't just about trans* people) who've had similar arguments with them in the past, and had suspiciously similar resolutions (i.e. copious apologies & £50). I suspect it's just mistraining/ignorance/lack of common sense in the branches...
