Be aware that (1) basically unless I'm actually dating you I am terrible at initiating conversations (and sometimes even when I am actually dating you), and (2) if we don't have a history of realtime communication I'm likely to Have A Social Anxiety about How Does Smalltalk (i.e. it is almost always best to go "ALEX I HAVE A QUESTION" or "ALEX HERE IS A BAT" rather than "ALEX HOW ARE YOU" unless you are someone who has a history of yelling that question at me and there are ergo established expectations about how much information you're actually asking for and Why You're Asking, and I still might decide I don't have the cope for people right then and not respond). Neither of these means I dislike you.

(I am also the obvious username for gchat and you're welcome to add me there too if you're not Telegram-enabled. The same is true of Freenode IRC. Facebook and Skype are means of contacting me but they're much more frequently ignored for months at a time.)

oh wow I just tried telegram and.... apparently on a security-focused messaging app there is NO CAPABILITY for me to conceal myself from anyone I have as a contact in my phone? or even delete them as a telegram contact without also deleting them from my phone. That seems like an oversight. I even tried signing up again with a Google voice number and it still grabbed my contacts, which includes, like, my dad, and doctors, and stuff. Does... does this not bother other people?

Still working on finding an IRC client that doesn't irritate me to death.

ye-ah, idk,I'm using it on a device that only knew my mum's phone number (and I've now given it another two for the other two people I actively want to talk to who use the service).
