BECAUSE I DIDN'T. Met
ewt for elevenses-slash-lunch yesterday, was loaned a partial exoskeleton (enough thermoplastic ring splits to do one on each digit) that inevitably doesn't fit me quite right, and it is still enough better than not that I am grumblingly conceding I'm going to have to get some of my own.

Thumbs are hard, but this is probably the cheapest way to get a thermoplastic thumb splint without seeing a hand therapist. You'll need a heat gun or boiling water to shape the plastic bit.

The hand therapists I saw at UCLH a few years ago were not that keen on prophylactic splinting, but this was 2008, so things may have changed.
