Things you should probably not say to me
Feb. 17th, 2012 10:32 pm... especially not in response to me telling you I'm planning to get a wheelchair.
- I still don't believe you're THAT ill. It's not like you've got diabetes and your feet are turning black and dropping off.
- Oh no! I'm so sorry!
- What's wrong with your legs? [that one goes for ANY SITUATION EVER, actually, unless I am specifically grumbling about my knee]
- You're not trying hard enough to get better. Getting a wheelchair is giving up - it's the easy way out.
- I know people who are BLIND and don't get DLA, so I don't see why YOU should. You should leave the money for people who need it.
- I think you're wrong about how helpful a wheelchair will be [especially if you are not a wheelchair user; bonus points if I've just explained the circumstances under which it means I can do stuff]
- But I just saw you walking! [bonus points if the distance was less than 10 metres]
