... or more specifically, for reasons which this margin is too small to contain, got me to buy myself a dinosaur chocolate mould/ice-cube tray, and made me dinosaur chocolates with ludicrous ganache. And then there was ganache and a paintbrush over, and so I have spent this evening tentatively experimenting with, you got it, making dinosaur chocolates.

My housemate appears to find it both entertaining and charming, however, that I am the kind of person who will exclaim NEVER AGAIN WILL I BE FORCED TO RELY ON MAINSTREAM CHOCOLATIERS FOR CHOCOLATE DINOSAURS like it's, er, completely normal.

heee they are in fact solid and they are smallish and I will take some damn' photos when I decant the next lot ;) (They've finished cooling but I'm not allowed to distract myself with more chocolating faff until I've written up counselling prep...)

In terms of difficulty, LESS THAN I THOUGHT.

So like... you make a ganache, you temper some chocolate, you apply a layer of wossname to the mould, you put it in the fridge to set. You layer on some ganache, you fill up the mould with some more tempered chocolate (use a teaspoon nOT A TABLESPOON), you put it in to set again. You extricate. DINOSAUR CHOCOLATE.

Tempering (is the only part of that that) sounds intimidating! Hmmmmm... But I need to learn that anyway if I want to reproduce the olive-white-chocolate thing in a way that is not Get K To Do It When Local...

I have had great results with starting out with tempered chocolate and then just never letting it get too hot, including the part where I stop heating at the point when there are still Sundrie Lumps & then stirring to let the heat of the rest melt those more or less.

This weekend involved dipping nearly all of 4lbs strawberry. Mmmmmsogood.
