[quick-and-dirty picspam] April's trips to Kew

There are a couple of lizards that live in one of the glasshouses, as best I can make out. This one was posing.



A small but very brightly coloured (red with yellow speckles) orchid flower, against misc textural foliage background.


Hot pink and white stripy tulips, in the alpines house.


Tulipa 'Liberation' - pointy-petalled tulips, the majority of the petals deep red, excepting the slightly scalloped edges, which form a distinct border in pale yellow.


I like interesting formal plantings. I like plantings where interesting things are being done with foliage, particularly contrasts in colour and texture. I liked this bed.

Ooh, that last bed IS pretty.

Also, that Chinese Water Dragon is striking and it's nice to see one in a captive environment conducive to its health; vivaria are typically pretty shitty by them and a huge number of them die in the pet trade in shipping/stores/shortly after purchase due to their relative fragility and large space needs even from a young age.

yay! foliage is a thing my mom has rambled about around me for a long time, so I pick up a lot of her leanings via osmosis. That is some very lovely foliage.
