kaberettOkay so in news that will surprise precisely no-one who isn't me, facesfriend & I are Probably Dating? In that I have somewhat to my bafflement concluded that we are closer to "dating" than "having dates" (IT IS A MEANINGFUL DISTINCTION OKAY) and I have kind of accidentally spent um three nights of the last five at his (only some of which was for the sake of a reliable internet connection) and last Thursday we went out for dinner which is definitely a Heteropatriarchy-Approved Mating Ritual soooooo.
I think the salient details are probably: he is a floppy-haired cis-boy programmer (who I don't freak out discussing code with); we were snogging on an escalator on a descent into the bowels of the tube, and once we were settled in a carriage he turned to me, smirking, and said "relationship escalator"; he is being very careful about boundaries and more-than-adequate communication & negotiation in incredibly refreshing ways; we are astonishingly compatible in terms of snark and things-to-watch and music-to-share and foods-to-eat; he is patiently acquiring my most common lapses into German; we laugh a lot & appear to feel remarkably safe with one another; and basically NRE everywhere & it's great & so is he. &! In spite of NRE everywhere! We spent yesterday evening largely curled up in different rooms getting on with our own work in the kind of way that is easier with sympathetic-human-is-present than not without getting hideously distracted! And mostly without getting distracted at all! I was gently astonished.
