The only time "Your name's not ____!" is an acceptable remark is when it's accompanied by intense mortification because you just found out that someone's preferred name isn't the one you've been using all this time. Otherwise, actually, that's the worst thing to say to someone. (I can get it if this person was saying this in the vein of "oh my god, was I calling you the wrong name?!" But that's easy to smooth over with "nope, Alex it is," and not a ton of examples of other people using other names.)
