friendly articulated snail

Via The Algorithm, earlier today I encountered some amazing mushroom fridge magnets. Some digging later, the only place I've found to buy these specific examples is eBay, for a random selection, for US$168 [link].

So those are a no, then.

... but in the process of hunting them I also found Mushroom Garden Magnet Set 3d Print Stl Files (Etsy), which on the downside would then need painting (which is NOT at present a hobby of mine) but on the upside include: snails.

Which prompted me to prod Thingiverse! Which yielded:

• a snail (and a remix) (and another)
• a snail lamp
• and, per the headline, the Friendly Articulated Snail.

... it's Adam's birthday. Apparently telling him about these constituted a DIY birthday present. The printer is currently producing a purple sparkly Friendly Articulated Snail. With a little luck it'll be ready in the morning...
