You know I posted a few days ago about how people use gloves?

Yeah, Sherlock's glove hygiene (or rather utter lack thereof) is really, REALLY getting to me. He gets the outside of every single glove covered with his skin, and the inside of every glove full of his spittle. The only time I've ever seen people inflating gloves prior to putting them on is if you're reusing them (and that only happens under special circumstances), and EVEN THEN you do not put your mouth anywhere near them - there's a particular thing you can do with snapping the opening open & shut again to trap enough air inside the palm to sort out the fingers.

Really. Bothering. Me.

Aaaaarrrgh. (And I've been so happy that he *uses* gloves at crime scenes, uses them so automatically that he is clearly not even thinking as he puts them on.)

So the way he uses gloves? Is 100% okay if it's a first use (so it's safe to put your mouth anywhere near them, IF they've come straight out of a known-safe container, etc) and if you're wearing gloves to protect yourself from whatever it is you're handling. If, however, you're wearing gloves to protect the things you're handling from you (which: crime scene!, but also clean labs, or most times you handle platinum wire), the way he cheerfully rubs his hands and face all over the outsides of them? Is... not so cool.

To be clear, I still love this show! That's just starting to wear at me a bit.

Sadly that's something he does throughout the season. Hopefully they'll address it in S2.

EEP. It's been 2 years since I've been in a lab setting but bad glove hygiene still gives me the shudders. (Mmmmm bacteria, mmmmm viruses, yay bad reactions to chemicals!... not.)
