In Which I Have Adventures In Menstruation.

Item the first: oof but this is the worst pain I can remember in... some time. Obviously there's the simple mechanical issue of "first period post HAVING MY INSIDES SCRAPED OUT" but I suspect what I am also getting is, fundamentally, This Is A Bunch Of New (Or At Least Changed) Sensation, and the Tune Out The Everyday routines don't work on New Sensations because they might actually be important.

Item the second: leaked through my one (1) super overnight period pants. sorta. technically? actually more of a leaked-around-them, in the "it was totally fine til I sat up in bed to poke at things while A used the bathroom, and then there was Escape Out Of The Sides".

Item the third: actually soaked through the gusset of my moderate/heavy in Less Than Twelve Hours. (Not entirely sure how much less.) BUT! The point at which I went "... okay no emergency loo trip" was as the soaked-through spot was just developing and before it had made it through my leggings let alone my Outermost Trousers. (Their absorbency guide says "15ml = 2-3 tampons or 3 teaspoons". Note that the two absorbency levels in between moderate/heavy and super overnight don't actually exist in any styles that are reasonably available to me. No I don't know why "not boyshort/boxer shaped underwear" is significantly more of a Dysphoria Thing than periods themselves, which are basically entirely fine from a gender perspective.)

... I'd been intending to not reintroduce the Mooncup until after the three-month follow-up, because (as previously mentioned) at least some gynaes get kinda twitchy about menstrual cups because rEtRoGrAdE mEnStRuAtIoN, but, uh, as of The Soaking Incident earlier this evening I was down to zero (0) clean pairs of period pants, with all of the ones I did own in the washing machine. And the way they work means they take A Bit to dry. And anyway I only own one (1) pair of super overnight, or at least, up until this morning I did, but the two more pairs I ordered this morning won't be getting here til Thursday earliest and I have two overnights between now and then, the latter of which my extant pair might be dry in time for...

... so yeah, given the choice between "set an alarm for the wee small hours and then try to deal with our emergency supply of pads-for-guests, probably none of which are actually rated for The Problem In Question, and/or hunt a hair dryer to grimly apply to still-damp clean pants" and "TONIGHT THE MODERATE/HEAVY GETS TO BE A BACK-UP FOR THE MOONCUP, ACTUALLY" I know which I am choosing.

This is (thank you recessional for the set phrase) a stupid method of reproduction.

so very stupid.

I had such a hard time managing my flow (back when I had any) because I was bleeding Rather Unreasonably Much, did not realize how much, and thus did not realize I needed unreasonable products and strategies to manage it. Thank goodness my body doesn't mind sidestepping the whole issue with HBC.
