This afternoon, for "was sadly knitting to help self-regulate while reading the [Benefits & Work] ESA to UC migration guide, and also doing some amount of form-filling", I messed up (part of) a row of the cable pattern including a crossover.

I did not spot this until three rounds later. Thankfully, this was before the next crossover.

... it took me two attempts but I fixed it by dropping only the eight stitches concerned. I have the vaguest rattlings of an intimation of a memory suggesting that this is a thing I have done in some dim and distant past, but it's the first time I've done it with this project (and therefore in like a decade), and I was feeling Extremely Intimidated by it, so I am Proud. Good job me.

oh, well done you!! a very handy skill to attain in knitting <3

(it has occasionally failed me, such at the time knitting Laminaria that I missed one of the "make 9 stitches out of 3" increases and had to tink as there was no way the yarn from knitting three stitches would stretch to make the intended nine but in most cases, very useful.)

I'm very comfortable in most cases! But CABLE??? is more or less my feeling...

Good luck with dealing with the stress-causer. And I shall nod and go "good job" at the knitting, as my knitting can be charitably described as extremely basic.

*applauds* that is a skill I have not yet developed when it comes to yarncraft! whether tinking or frogging, I don't grok how to make the yarn go the way it needs or which direction a stitch is or isn't twisted, which is why most of my finished objects are small things like scarves and hats :) go you!
