It dawned on me this evening that a thing I can do to make my hospital stay more pleasant is: big ol' sign with my pronouns on to stick on the whiteboard above my bed, plus wee cards to hand out with pronouns on the front and, on the back, a short blurb to the effect of "I know this is genuinely (neurologically!) hard if you're not already used to it, but it will mean a lot to me if you try to use gender-neutral language when talking about me. Don't worry about making mistakes -- please just try to catch it, correct yourself, and move on."

... so yeah I'm rediscovering that graphic design is hard.

(I'm also kind of baffled that this sort of thing does not seem to already exist on Etsy? And, yeah, part of that is going to be that I'm going for conciliatory -- but that's a deliberate conscious choice and application of weaponised good faith in service of ambassadorship/outreach/education... so, I dunno, depending on how it winds up working maybe I want to set up an Etsy for it...)

Hoping the design fairy visits with a good idea. And that when you hand out the cards, people actually do what they say.

It really is hard! And yeah. (I'm guessing the algorithm is probably not your friend for finding that sort of thing on Etsy, come to think of it.)
